Bernard Burgaud

Bernard Burgaud took over his family’s domaine at the time of his father’s early death in 1985. He assembled a few more choice lieu-dits, though it remains a mere four hectares in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie. Bernard studied viticulture in Beaune, and has maintained a more traditional approach to winemaking, with an emphasis on longevity. He was also ahead of his time in the region when he gradually introduced small amounts of new oak, foresight which led to more complex, ageworthy wines.
