Alberto Orte

Alberto Orte is a Spanish winemaking pioneer. Up to now he’s mainly been revered in Spain and the USA, but he’s starting to make a name for himself further afield. He makes wines from a number of different Spanish regions, including Jerez, Valdeorras and Rioja. Focussing on old, often high altitude vineyards, as well as often almost extinct varieties and clones. And he also works incredibly sustainably, with organic and biodynamic practices, and a winery powered by geothermal energy. His wines are refined, elegant, and profound: he’s a real insider’s tip.
