Château Labégorce has become one of the hottest properties in Bordeaux in recent years, selling out immediately on first release. Situated in the heart of Margaux, recent investment has made it one of Bordeaux’s most in-demand wines when released en primeur. It has been owned by the Perrodo family since 1989, when Hubert Perrodo, whose dream to reunite the previously split estates of Labégorce and Labégorce-Zédé was realised in 2009, and the first vintage of the newly unified estate was 2010. Sadly, Hubert was killed in a skiing accident in 2006 and control passed to his daughter, Nathalie who has continued to see Labégorce go from strength to strength. The estate lies in the north of Margaux, above the eponymous First Growth and has close to 70 hectares of vines. Unusually for Bordeaux, some of these vines are up to 100 years old, lying in a small plot of just 4 hectares, with the remainder planted from the 1950s onwards.
