Bernard Faurie’s humble cellar in the village of Tournon is in contrast with the class of the wines he makes here. With minimal intervention, he makes a classic, if not benchmark, Hermitage from the 1.7 hectares he shares with his cousin. He now shares in the winemaking with his son-in-law Emmanuel, who manages their authentic St.-Joseph whines, while Bernard focuses on his prized Hermitage. Bernard describes his job as ‘ma passion, ma vie,’ a raison d’être evident in his outstanding wines.
