This remarkable St-Emilion, sitting on the coveted limestone plateau, is just 6 hectares in size and punches well above its weight. The estate has had several notable owners over the years including AXA-Millèsimes in 1984 and more recently, the Laviale family in 2004. It was under Griet and Herve Laviale that Franc Mayne was completely renovated and the vineyards replanted. The blend was updated to include 10% Cabernet Franc, a percentage that is gradually being increased and a modern, state-of-the-art winery installed. Franc Mayne was sold again in 2018 to Jean Pierre Savare, who is working hard to further the reputation of the estate. Together with head winemaker Martine Cazeneuve, their attention to detail includes hand-harvesting and plot-by-plot vinification to ensure the best grand vin.
