Lafleur-Gazin sits on the edge of the Pomerol plateau, nestled between Château Lafleur-Pétrus and Château Gazin. The estate has been with the Borderie family for several generations and ownership remains with Madame Delfour-Borderie, though she plays no part in its day-to-day running. That is left in the capable hands of Jean-Pierre Moueix, négociants and winemakers who also look after Château Hosanna and Lafleur-Pétrus. Lafleur-Gazin’s 8.5 hectares are spread across a mix of gravel, clay and silt soils, with an average age of 30 years for its Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines. Lafleur-Gazin is valued for producing a lighter style of Pomerol which is more approachable in its youth than is typical for the region.
