Domaine Rossignol-Trapet
Brothers Nicolas and David Rossignol have managed the family domaine since 1990, when they took over from their parents Jacques Rossignol and Mado Trapet. Their wines are classical, long-lived and fine examples of Gevrey-Chambertin. Nicolas and David were quick to become champions of minimal intervention and they converted their first vineyard parcel to biodynamic farming in 1997. By 2004 all 13 hectares of their estate were biodynamic and fully certified by 2005. Their philosophy for working as naturally as possible governs their work from the vineyards to the cellar and as a result, their wines are elegant, refined and reflective of their prime vineyards. Most of these vineyards are concentrated in Gevrey-Chambertin, but there are a few outliers in Beaune which are well-worth exploring. Their grand cru Le Chambertin parcel lies in a single block with vines spanning from the base to close to the top of the vineyard, with some vines dating back to 1919.
