2022 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

2022 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

Cool air comes down the valley between Morey-St-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, meaning Latricières is a little slower to mature than the other Gevrey grands crus. The wine shows tender, sweet red fruit on the nose, with a more serious, savoury palate. Graceful already, with some age this will take on even more depth and weight.

Tasting notes

Attractive light to mid purple. There is some opulence from ripe fruit on the nose. Starts well on the palate and really builds, with a lovely freshness to what is evidently entirely ripe fruit. Never more than medium bodied yet with intensity, especially at the back of the palate. Almost cerebral and very persistent. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: December 2023.

The 2022 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well-defined and typically Latricières nose: a bit backward, even aloof, yet with attractive cola, dark berry scents, and a hint of Clementines. The medium-bodied palate has a citrus-fresh entry and a fine bead of acidity. It is quite linear and correct (like this Grand Cru tends to be), finishing with a touch of curry leaf. Very fine, even if not the most complex example this vintage.
