Château St-Pierre
Fourth Growth Château St-Pierre is a small St-Julien estate which is relatively unknown, although is well-deserving of a place in any Bordeaux lovers' cellar. Dating back to at least the 17th century, it was once part of a larger estate which also encompassed Beychevelle and Ducru Beaucaillou. Its modern day quality is owed to Henri Martin, who also owned neighbouring Château Gloria. He purchased the estate in 1981 when he was 78 years old and fulfilled his dream of owning a classed growth. Today, his daughter Françoise Martin and her husband Jean-Louis Triaud live in the château and run the estate. Grapes are hand harvested and taken next door to Château Gloria’s chai, where the winemaking takes place.
