The 2017 Mabalel is simply gorgeous, with perfumed red fruit and hints of citrus and spice. There’s silky yet grippy tannins, and a sense of weightlessness on the palate. This is supremely classy winemaking from Peter-Allan Finlayson.

Elandskloof is best known as a stellar site for Chardonnay, but it’s also very well suited to Pinot Noir. The altitude of the parcel (700 metres) shows in the freshness, zip and focus of this wine, with pepper spice fro 40% whole bunches and subtle redcurrant and pomegranate fruit.
