2017 Nautical Dawn Chenin Blanc, Chris Alheit, Stellenbosch

Chris introduced this wine in 2013, from a plot so close to False Bay that on a clear day, one can see the waves breaking. It's made from two parcels: 1978 bushvines planted at 60m on Rustenhof, 4km from the bay, and a 1988 planting on Karibib at 220m, 13km from the bay. This wine isquite generous with ripe yellow fruits and an exuberance to the floral character on the finish. Really pure and floral. This is upfront and pretty sexy, and very long, touch of orange peel, too.
