2017 Barolo Pajana, Domenico Clerico, Piedmont

The Pajana comes from the Ginestra cru in Monforte d'Alba, and is undoubtedly a Grand Cru of Barolo. The 2017 is spicy and dark-fruited with plenty of smoky incense, black olive, and black cherry notes. There’s a herbal lift that serves as a perfect counterbalance to the wine’s muscular character, and the finish is long and impressive. Utterly delicious.
