2016 Barolo Bricco Boschis, Cavallotto, Piedmont

On the nose notes of pomegranate, fresh morello cherries, and a hint of grapefruit pith. The palate is intense and tightly wound: this will need some time to come out of its shell. Yet you feel the rippling energy here, the purity of fruit, and the underlying complexity: this is an astonishingly good Nebbiolo from one of the region’s masters. Not to be missed.

2016 Barolo Bricco Boschis, Cavallotto, Piedmont

The Cavallotto family home can be found right in the heart of their vineyard called Bricco Boschis. From here they produce some of the greatest Barolos. Siblings Giuseppe, Laura and Alfio are now in charge and while their wines continue to be traditional expressions of Nebbiolo, the Cavallottos have always been trailblazers in other ways. They are some of the first to experiment with organic viticulture, and to bottle and sell their own wines, rather than work through a merchant.
