2016 Barolo Ginestra Vigna Casa Maté, Elio Grasso, Piedmont

The Casa Maté is surprisingly open and floral today, with beautiful notes of dark cherry, lavender, and notes of baked earth, too. This is very intense and structured, but the tannins are perfectly refined and there's a mouthwatering, saline finish. Outstanding. Strictly limited to 6 bottles per customer.

Elio Grasso

The story of Elio Grasso begins not in the winery, but in the city of Turin, where Elio Grasso was working at a bank when his winemaking grandfather died. From that moment, he returned to his roots – since 1978 working in his eponymous winery on just 18 acres of hills surrounding Monforte d’Alba.
