2013 Barolo Vigna Santa Caterina, Guido Porro, Piedmont

2013 Barolo Vigna Santa Caterina, Guido Porro, Piedmont

From 35 year old vines planted on clay and limestone. It has a glorious nose: expressive, floral and elegant with dried rose petal. Lovely length, with some sweetness of tannins and a mouthwatering finish. One of his best efforts this vintage.

Tasting notes

The 2013 Barolo Vigna S. Caterina opens with a captivating mélange of orange zest, Christmas cake, kirsch and rose petal notes. Medium in body, with a super-classic sense of structure and drive, the 2013 is another winner from Guido Porro. I would prefer to give it a few years to allow the tannins to soften.
