2006 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe, Cavallotto, Piedmont

2006 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe, Cavallotto, Piedmont

If comparisons are to be made between the Cavallotto wines and those of great Burgundy, then it’s the San Giuseppe Riserva that’s waving the Chambertin-flag. The 2006 Riservas are the best wines to be produced from this estate yet and the San Giuseppe, with its lifted, floral elegance to match the sheer staying-power of this wine is one of the best hidden gems of the vintage. Wild strawberries, damsons, lavender, coffee and cured meats on the nose with a beautifully-soft texture to follow on the palate.
