2004 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe, Cavallotto, Piedmont

A small enclave within Bricco Boschis, occupying a prime site on the slope. I am not at all surprised that San Giuseppe is so good in 2004; the 2001 was spectacular and this is in the same league. This is almost exotic, with real volume and concentration and youthful tannins interwoven into a real deep core of fine fruit. Absolutely ace.

2004 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe, Cavallotto, Piedmont
Cavallotto

The Cavallotto family home can be found right in the heart of their vineyard called Bricco Boschis. From here they produce some of the greatest Barolos. Siblings Giuseppe, Laura and Alfio are now in charge and while their wines continue to be traditional expressions of Nebbiolo, the Cavallottos have always been trailblazers in other ways. They are some of the first to experiment with organic viticulture, and to bottle and sell their own wines, rather than work through a merchant.
