2007 Riesling Hochrain, Smaragd, Hirtzberger

2007 Riesling Hochrain, Smaragd, Hirtzberger

Great Wachau Riesling is unique. There is a note of Germany (Mosel) in the floral, fruity fragrance, but the wine is powerful, rich and dry. Hochrain, like Axpoint, is a vineyard with some top-soil over the primary rock, and this lends the wine a distinctively voluptuous texture.

Intense and concentrated with a very long finish. Defined and focused with a dense core of fruit. Seamlessly balanced. This is a full bodied dry Riesling of exceptional quality, and is, without doubt, of the quality of a top premier cru burgundy.
