2005 Saarburger Rausch Riesling Auslese AP 11-06, Zilliken, Saar
Let no one be in any doubt, Hanno Zilliken produced a stellar range of wines in 2005. Such was the quality of perfectly ripened fruit on the Rausch that he made virtually no wines of less than Auslese level. Fuder 11-06 is what amounts to the 'entry level' Auslese but such is the harmony and complexity of this wine, who would think it anything other than the finest wine in the cellar? A beautifully harmonious Riesling with expansive scents of philadelphus and exotic fruits. The palate is brimming with fruit, steeliness and delicacy. Deft of touch and incredibly long.
