2011 Pouilly-Fumé Silex, Didier Dagueneau

The aroma of this Silex is alive with bright, racy, concentrated citrus essence. There is an ethereal sense of flintiness here – a nod to the Silex soils on which these vines are planted. Dry, delicate, crystalline purity continues through onto the palate, where powerful but subtle flavours combine to create a beguilingly complex flavour. This is a wine of paradox: fiercely austere in its youth but with age, this will soften and its delightful lemon fragrances will undoubtedly develop into a beautifully graceful, lively and delicious wine – one of which Didier Dagueneau himself would be justifiably proud.

2011 Pouilly-Fumé Silex, Didier Dagueneau
Didier Dagueneau

Before his untimely death in 2008, Didier Dagueneau was the “wild man of Pouilly”, on a mission to resurrect Pouilly-Fumé’s reputation for Sauvignon Blanc of the highest quality. His wines developed a cult following, and his son, Louis-Benjamin, is now following in his footsteps and continuing his legacy. In his hands, the wines are still incredibly expressive but have developed an extra layer of precision.
