This quiet, humble vigneron has earned cult status for his profoundly soulful Cornas. He is one of the few living winemakers who can genuinely be referred to as a legend. The domaine is small, less than five hectares, and the low yields means only tiny volumes are released. There is consistently insatiable demand for these rare, low-interventionist wines. The 2019 Chaillot is deeply colour with a shimmering intensity of dark plum fruit, black olive and fresh cracked black pepper. While brooding and intense there is no lack of charm with aromas of violets and dark cherry fruit too. There is a strong mineral, saline element that comes through on the finish clothed in blue fruits.
