2016 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières, Domaine Ballot-Millot

Genevrières takes its name from the juniper bushes that traditionally would have grown here, although just one remains. As ever, it’s a delicate and floral Meursault, with the old vines giving density and precision to the fruit. Spice touches and hints of pineapple as well as the orchard fruit, enlivened with great acidity.

Domaine Ballot-Millot

Run by talented young winemaker Charles since 2000, on the estate created by the union of his grandparents, this is a domaine bang on form, one you overlook at your peril. Charles is the 17th generation of the family to live and work in Burgundy, but he doesn’t let this history hold his winemaking back. Willing to push the boundaries, he produces wines that have everything in perfect relief: concentration, minerality, acidity and complexity.
