The Grivots have a substantial single parcel in Clos de Vougeot, which is easy to spot, with its magnificent gate on the roadside. The wine is finely woven, detailed and poised, with both power and length. Blood orange and violets perfume the nose, with a little tobacco spice and pepper on the palate.
The 2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a refined and harmonious bouquet with red berry fruit, wild hedgerow and light oyster shell notes, ameliorating all the time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit, truffle and black pepper. It's quite complex and very long on the finish. Superb.
Mid red crimson. The barrel gives a slightly firm note to the fruit on the nose. There is a weight of red fruit beneath though this is rather reserved and only at the finish does the fruit come back. No black fruit notes at all. In reserve and slightly saline. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: November 2023.
