2014 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru, Domaine du Clos Frantin

Something of a wow wine, it can perhaps be summed up as powerful elegance. It has an intense, brooding essence of fruit with a very fine tannic grip in perfect balance. It manages to be a structured wine of density while retaining tremendous clarity of expression.

2014 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru, Domaine du Clos Frantin
Albert Bichot (Clos Frantin and Long Depaquit)

Founded in 1791, this domaine’s château remains the most impressive in Chablis. Now owned by Beaune-based house Albert Bichot, and benefitting from the expertise of Technical Director Alain Serveau, this is a Chablis domaine on the rise to the top of the appellation. La Moutonne is the wine that the estate is best known for, a monopole in the heart of the Grands Crus, between Vaudésir and Les Preuses. It’s in a natural amphitheatre where the wines can reach stunning ripeness for the region.
