Domaine Gauby
Deep in Roussillon sits Domaine Gauby, so far in southern France it’s a short drive to Spain. Despite its rural locale, Gerard Gauby has been something of a national if not international star since he began making wine in the 1980s. He saw the potential of old vines and unique terroir here, in a zone delimited for Vin de Pays “Coteaux des Fenouilledes”, and continues to farm biodynamically, making wines only with natural yeasts, to this day. His methods are traditional in the best sense, though varieties are as varied as Grenache, Carignan and even Chenin Blanc, and his wines are a celebration of this corner of rural France.
