Domaine Gauby

The first vintage of Le Soula wasn’t produced until 2001, but it’s fast become a star of the Roussillon, winning praise from critics like Jancis Robinson. It’s a project that was started by Gérard Gauby, the region’s most renowned winemaker, supported by English investors, Mark Walford and Roy Richards. The Roussillon’s long been known for cheap and cheerful drinking wines, but Gérard knew it was capable of more. So he sought out neglected vineyards high in the Pyrenean foothills, to work old, low-yielding vines biodynamically. Winemaker Wendy Paillé’s field blends age magnificently, and are the best ambassadors we can imagine for the region.
