2020 Arte Langhe Rosso, Domenico Clerico Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

A blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera, this shows just the right amount of grip, with savoury tannins, pure fruit, and a nicely balanced, fragrant finish. This will age beautifully, if you can keep your hands off it.

Ready: 2023 - 2028
2015 Château Thénac Rouge, Bergerac Red | Still | 14.5%

Château Thénac is undoubtedly the finest wine from Bergerac that we’ve come across. The 2015 is deep in colour with notes of ripe plum, dark chocolate, and bramble. There’s plenty of grip here, with vanilla spice and a hint of cedar, and fresh, lifted acidity. This really punches above its modest price tag.

Ready: 2021 - 2032
2022 Ribolla Gialla, Marco Sara, Colli Orientali del Friuli Dry | White | Still | 12.5%

A fresh and charming white that opens with a beautiful aroma of fresh peach, almond blossom and orchard fruit. The palate is bright and saline with notes of white grapefruit, fresh apricot and acacia. A fresh, floral white that brings a lot of pleasure in the glass.

2023 Lay & Wheeler Swartland Chenin Blanc by AA Badenhorst Dry | White | Still | 13.5%

Adi Badenhorst is one of the original Swartland trailblazers. He is based on the Paardeberg, where deep, decomposed granite soils are perfect for growing Chenin Blanc. This is from a single vineyard - Dassiekop - a tiny plot of vines planted in the 1970s, that produces a quintessential Swartland Chenin: vibrant and tense, with lots of ripe citrus fruit, and a long, savoury finish.

2019 Barbaresco Rocche Massalupo, Manuel Marinacci Dry | Red | Still | 14%

This cru vineyard site makes up just under a third of Manuel’s holdings and is situated on the western edge of the region. Attractive rose and crushed raspberry perfume combine with cranberry, damsons and cinnamon spice. The tannins are chalky and firm and woven into the wine’s concentrated core.

Ready: 2024 - 2040
2023 Seelug Chardonnay, Blank Bottle Dry | White | Still | 13.5%

A single vineyard Chardonnay from Stellenbosch taken on in 2022 making this the second vintage for Pieter. The wine sees 40% untoasted new oak giving a faint acacia and vanilla pod note with fresh stone fruit. The vineyard faces into False Bay accounting for the real purity and salinity on the finish.

Ready: 2024 - 2035
2022 Château Joanin Bécot, Côtes de Castillon Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

Tasted April 2023. From the Bécot family of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, who sought out this prime clay-limestone spot in Castillon in 2001. Castillon is often the hunting ground for under-the-radar but impressive terroir, and in the hands of this great St-Emilion family the results are on another level. In 2022 this is particularly good, with expressive blackberry, black plum fruit and minty notes adding lift and complexity.

Young: 2027 - 2039
2018 La Montesa Crianza, Palacios Remondo Red | Still | 13%

Silky and elegant, La Montesa comes from a single, organic vineyard and in this vintage is made entirely from Garnacha. The result is full of crunchy red berry fruits, orange peel and woody herbs. It’s broad and mouth coating, but not overly rich. It’s bright, lively, and fruit-driven and lovely to drink.

Ready: 2022 - 2030
2024 Sauvignon Blanc, Greywacke, Marlborough Dry | White | Still | 13.5%

Kevin Judd was famously the winemaker for Cloudy Bay, and this is his own project. It's named after the local soils, and from the heart of Marlborough, made with his extensive knowledge and even adorned with his own photography. The wines are made in the Dog Point facility, alongside Kevin's old mate from Cloudy Bay Ivan Sutherland. This wine is a classic Marlborough with nectarine, star fruit accented by confit lemon and waves of herbaceous complexity.
