Château de la Négly
2021 La Brise Marine, Château de la Négly, La Clape, Languedoc Dry | White | Still | 13%

This salty, expressive white from this enterprising estate in Languedoc offers outstanding value for money. Aromas of fresh white flowers and the salty spray of the Mediterranean make this citrus scented white the perfect aperitif. Balanced, refreshing, unfussy and delicious.

Ready: 2022 - 2024
Domaine de Montcalmès
2018 Domaine de Montcalmès, Terrasses du Larzac Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

Though it remains under the radar in comparison to neighbours and mentors, Grange de Pères, winemaker Frédéric Pourtalié has quietly established Montcalmès as one of the most nuanced and high quality producers of the Languedoc. Syrah and Grenache from limestone and Mourvèdre grown on galets roulés soils (pudding stones, like Châteauneuf) are seamlessly blended in this superbly balanced and delicious red. The 2018 is a sophisticated, densely structured iteration, with sweet cherry spice on the nose and savoury tannins on the palate culminating in a long, taut finish. It will only benefit from some time in the cellar.

Mas de Daumas Gassac
2021 Mas de Daumas Gassac, IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert Dry | Red | Still | 13%

Mas de Daumas Gassac’s quirky blend has earned it many fans over the years. The main component of Cabernet Sauvignon gives it structure and tannic backbone, whilst Merlot fleshes out the mid-palate. Spiced notes from Petit Verdot and a herbaceous lift from Cabernet Franc help add complexity. So far, so Bordelais… But the Mas de Daumas has an extra edge, thanks to the baking southern sun of the Languedoc, and the unusual components of Tannat and Pinot Noir that also play supporting roles. The overall impression is a rich, full-bodied wine, with a dried herb-scented lift, and fine, peppery tannins.

Ready: 2024 - 2036
2022 Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc, Vin de Pays de l'Herault White | Still | 13.5%

Like the red wine from this famous Languedoc estate, the white is an ecclectic blend of mainstream varieties, with a long tail of curiosities. The heart of the wine is made up of 25% Viognier, 25% Chardonnay, 25% Petit Manseng, and 15% Chenin Blanc. The final 10% is made up of varieties including Courbu, Petite Arvine, Rolle (Vermentino), Marsanne, and a further 10 even more rare varieties.
