Best known for its importance Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Southern Rhône and Priorat in Spain where it is known as Garnacha, Grenache is a grape variety that loves the heat. It can produce serious, dense reds that can benefit from many years cellaring, but can also see alcohol levels that push north of 15%. Yet it doesn’t have to be like this, with dynamic producers from old and new worlds experimenting with methods to preserve Grenache’s purity, creating more elegant, fascinating wines.
