Citrus and blossom are underpinned by flinty and stony complexity. Ginger spice aromas add complexity and are typical of the 'spice garden' vineyard. Acidity is zesty and brings vibrancy to this fantastic wine.

Translated as slate terraces, this is one of the most beautiful and imposing vineyards that I have visited. Although this is considered the "entry level" into the range, this wine exudes class and complexity, thanks in part to 50 year old + vines, complex grey and blue devonian slate and ageing for 10 months on lees in large fudres.

The Riesling is sourced from around the village of Gonnheim. All the fruit is hand harvested from biodynamically and organically farmed vineyards. Ginger, slate and citrus driven with notes of white peach and apricot. The acidity is zesty and whilst I have no doubt this wine will age, it is drinking beautifully now.

The Pinot Noir is coming from grapes around the village of Gonnheim. The wine offers incredible value for money with hand harvested fruit from biodynamic and organically sourced vineyards. Pale in colour with bright red berry perfume and crushed strawberry aromas. Touch of spice and violet on the palate with well integrated, fine grained tannins.

The Schlossberg vineyard is planted at altitude and on own rooted vines from the 1930s and 1960s that gives the Riesling a restrained concentrated and mineral core. Expect fresh apricot, white peach and ginger spice as well as a refreshing character thanks to the high dry extract. Acidity is crisp and energetic and the length is long.

The Nierstein is a selection from young vines of the famed Pettenthal vineyard of Rheinhessen's Roter Hang– the red slate slopes that overlook the river Rhine. 2021 was a spectacular year for Riesling across Europe and this is a fabulous representation of the vintage. Tasting it blind, you’d be forgiven for placing it as a Grosses Gewächs, or Grand Cru: smoky, textured and with wonderful purity of fruit, it has a finish that lasts for minutes. Excellent value from one of Germany's most exciting winemakers, this is not to be missed.

At 6.5 hectares, this is Gunderloch's largest site and is probably its most prestigious. The gravelly red slate and cooler site provides a delicate finesse and lively acidity. Steely in its approach with jasmine and white grapefruit pithiness. This is a classy wine.

At 5.5 hectares, the site retains the warmth and the orange and fleshy peach aroma is a nod to this heat retaining site. The wine has a breadth and a concentration, yet there is a herbal note as well as a saltiness and energy that is characteristic of the vintage.

This wine takes on a richness and breadth with yellow stone fruit and ripe pear, yet has a mineral and flinty character as well as zesty acidity that brings structure and definition.

Apricot, pink grapefruit and flinty notes are incredibly concentrated with an awesome vibrancy and nervy core. There are layers of complexity in this wine with both savoury and fruit forward aromas that will continue to develop and express themselves further with bottle age.

Citrus and saline core combines beautifully with white peach and mint verbena notes. Fleshy apricot notes continue on the finish alongside the salty and crisp acidity.

Expect lemon acidity with a steely profile and saline core in this Kabinett that is tightly wound in style.
