The 2021 Bin 138 is a blend of 50% Grenache, 44% Shiraz and 6% Mataro. It's full, juicy and rich with blackberry, black cherry and raspberry. Then there's more complex peppery, meaty notes and earthy tobacco.

The 2021 Bin 138 is this year led by Grenache (50%), Shiraz (44%) and Mataro (6%) and is creamy and full on the nose, with roast lamb, raspberry, pink peppercorn, chewing tobacco and black tea. In the mouth, the wine is plump and chewy and loaded with flavor. It's an exciting wine to drink! Pleasure. First vintage 1992. Drink 2023 – 2033. 14.5% alc
Dark purplish crimson. Well-integrated, sweet blend with more than a hint of menthol cough sweets. Quite a tannic, sudden, fruitless end though. Drink 2024 – 2030. 14.5% alc
Ah, Bin 138, is so often a wine that is the nearly-man in the line-up and this year it works like a dream. With wild notes, hints of forest and game and then a glossy, properly focussed core that shouts, and this keeps it all on the straight and narrow, the Mataro plays a crucial role in bringing it all to a dramatic and earthy close without drying the finish too much. This is clever stuff and it wears a fair price tag, too. Drink 2025 – 2035. 14.5% alc
