2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir, William Fèvre

2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir, William Fèvre

Vaudésir is shaped like an amphitheatre, and catches the sun. As a result, the fruit ripens early here and it needs to be picked at the right time, which is just what Didier has done in 2020. The wine is delicate and precise. Its fine-boned features are so pretty in youth, and will maintain their striking beauty with age. Aromatically complex, zingy and detailed.

Tasting notes

A discreet dollop of wood sets off the ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of white and yellow peach, passion fruit and subtle mineral reduction wisps. There isn't the same weight and density though there is much better refinement to the lightly stony, focused and sneaky long finish. This is a classic Vaudésir that should also reward a decade or so of cellaring.
