2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, Clos des Papes

2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, Clos des Papes

A blend which encompasses six of the permitted white varieties, namely Bourbulenc, Picpoul, Clairette, Picardin, Marsanne and Roussanne. In order to preserve valuable acidity, the wine sees no oak nor does it undergo malolactic fermentation. It is however aged on its lees to bring about added complexity. The honeyed fruit on the nose is very appealing, quite fragrant, floral too. Very finely-tuned, the wine shows good direction on the palate, with a cut that is often lacking in its counterparts. Crisp green fruits, discreet honeyed almond and stoney minerality combine. Very long on the finish.
