1991 Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt, Highland
A minimum of 26 year old whisky goes into this 1991 bottling, with a third matured in oloroso casks, a third in ex-Burgundy casks and a third in newly charred oak, a signature of Director Dr Bill Lumsden. This is very toasty, and full of ginger, mace and nutmeg. Very concentrated and textural, there’s a clear newly-charred wood flavour alongside apricot and red fruits. Richer caramel comes through later on the palate as well as light, chocolatey notes.
