2016 Fonseca

A complex nose of cherry and blackcurrant, with violets and spice emerging wth time. A concentration of fruit covers the whole of the palate, precisely defined with a long finish. The palate is edged by a very fine grip of tannin and taut, mineral acidity. This is finely crafted and deeply impressive Fonseca.

Tasting notes

Dark crimson with a slightly chestnut hue. Very much a cloud rather than a rapier on the nose – hedonistic and ripe with masses of sweetness almost masking a rigorous corset of tannins. You really taste the heat here – but in a very ripe fruit way, not in a hot spirit way.
