A serious and exuberant offering from this famous Dutch Port House. Intensely dark and brooding, the purple fruits are bursting with concentration and perfumed with profound notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, sloe, plum and hedgerow fruit, alongside exotic spice and crushed black pepper. The carefully trodden grapes have extracted incredible fruit density, supported by excellent structural tannins. There is a fresh richness and intensity here, alongside fabulous grip and backbone. This is a superb, show-stopping Port – to be expected in this wonderful vintage – whose future is full of promise.
