2009 Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha, Taylor's

Made only in tiny volumes, this is produced from the five oldest plots within the iconic Vargellas vineyard. Headier on the nose than either Taylor’s or Fonseca, this is a powerful and persuasive Port. The palate is of dark fruits and store-cupboard spice, framed by quite robust, but finely-realised tannins. Harmonious and long on the finish, with more fragrant, floral notes starting to show through.
