Less known than the top tier Symington-owned houses, but Smith Woodhouse consistently produces excellent ports. Fresh, vibrant and intensely fruity, to the point that initially one is tempted to believe that this is a wine for early(ish) drinking. However structure, concentration and tannins emerge in the mid-palate to confirm ageing potential. Packed with ultra-ripe cassis and spice flavours. Probably the outstanding value port of the 2007 vintage.
