Smith Woodhouse is part of the Symington family of Ports, which also includes Dow’s, Warre’s and Graham’s. 2003 was a great vintage for Port, where winemakers were able to capitalise on the low yields and concentration brought about by the high temperatures, to create intense and focused wines. Sumptuous port from a quality producer. The tannins are firm but ripe, adding backbone and structure to what is a powerful and concentrated wine. The finish is marked by a distinct sweetness offset by a spice and pepper edge.
