Very deep in the glass once more, 2003 Fonseca is characterised by great depth of fruit, a bold, expansive style, with a freshness running throughout. The aromas suggest floral-edged black fruits and spice, the palate displaying plenty of substance. This is very full though not overtly heady and the admirable density masks an undeniably firm structure. With such vibrance and volume this marks an outstanding vintage for Fonseca – intense to the last and sure to be longlived.
