The ‘Mabalel’ Pinot Noir comes from a high-altitude vineyard in Elandskloof, at 700 metres above sea level, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Clay soils with a sandstone and quartz top layer produce late-ripening fruit with elegant, savoury aromas. It is a distinctive and more powerful style with dark cherry fruit, violets and a subtle spiced note. There is both flesh and structure to this wine with a underlying layer of salinity. It is a truly impressive Pinot that transports the beauty and drama of this place.
