A brilliant Swartland Syrah coming mainly from the Porseleinberg property with around 10% of Goldmine fruit. This vintage sees around two thirds whole clusters used with ageing mainly done in 600l demi-muids. The wine opes with notes of wild herbs, hints of blue and black fruits, juniper, and fynbos. There is a hint of grilled meat, and charcoal mingling with the succulent berry fruit. The palate is fresh and detailed, bright and even some showing some red fruit inflections. Liquorice, kelp and violets lift from the glass while the fruit gives way to wonderfully grainy tannins. Peppery finish, yet there is juiciness on the palate – great balance.
