This year a blend of a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot the 2023 Paul Sauer from Kanonkop is a total classic. Beautiful definition and energy to the wine this year, there are notes of sandalwood, pink pepper, and fynbos on the nose. Hedgerow fruit with delicate floral notes of lavendar, violets and pomegranite, there are layers of savoury spice and fine-grained, ripe tannin. Elegant and with a building intensity on the finish.
