2022 Ramnasgras Cinsault, AA Badenhorst, Swartland

2022 Ramnasgras Cinsault, AA Badenhorst, Swartland

Planted in 1954, this old block of Cinsault gives an intense and refined expression of the grape. There’s real energy here, and there’s also notes of fynbos, negroni, and very fine but almost Nebbiolo-like tannins.

Tasting notes

Ramnasgras sits on a cooler, south-east facing slope and is the bigger of Adi Badenhorst's two parcels of old-vine Cinsault. Showing the influence of 20% whole clusters on the nose and palate, it moves from a nose of rose petal and subtle, stony reduction into a palate of red cherry, plum and bramble complemented by savoury tannins. 2024-29
