2022 Ringmuur Cinsault, AA Badenhorst, Swartland

Miniscule production here - just 800 kg of grapes or so come from this wall-surrounded vineyard, planted in 1963. It’s savoury and spicy, with notes of ginger and rooibos. This is intense and stunningly pure.

Tasting notes

Ringmuur is a consistently delicious Swartland Cinsault, made with grapes from a small, 0.6-hectare parcel planted in the 1960s. Using 70% carbonic maceration, it has aromas of rooibos tea and rosehip, elegant, palate-caressing tannins, some granitic grip and a core of aromatic spices and summer pudding fruit. 2024-30
