Just 80mm of rain falls annually up in the Klein Karoo, where this Grenache Blanc is found. It's a fascinating wine, with notes of fennel, orange pith, and lots of texture. Very long and tense, it's totally delicious.
Bernhard Bredell sources this Grenache Blanc from what he calls "the game farm area" of the Klein Karoo, six hours' drive from Stellenbosch. Now into its fourth vintage, it has minimal oak, stone fruit, citrus and aniseed flavours, a whiff of mountain herbs and the tangy minerality that is the variety's thumbprint. 2024-28
