2017 Lindi Carien, Lourens Family Wines, Piekenierskloof

The nose on this is explosive and powerful, with fresh apples, spice, flowers and notes of fresh ginger. It’s so complex and intense: it totally outperforms its price. The finish is long and textured, and lasts for minutes. Simply wonderful.

TASTING NOTES

The 2017 Linda Carien is a white blend matured 95% in used oak barrels with respect to the Verdelho, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Chenin Blanc, while the Clairette Blanche was matured in amphora. The wine has an attractive bouquet of yellow fruit, a touch of melted wax and a light marine influence. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, a touch of dried honey and grapefruit and light spicy notes toward the long finish. Very fine.
