The 2017 Family Vineyards Pinot Noir from Newton Johnson sets a new benchmark for South African Pinot Noir. Delicate and pale in colour, this belies the intensity and power of this stunning wine. The nose is lifted, with notes of purple flowers, pomegranate, orange peel and a hint of spice, while the palate has a lick of tannin that coats the mouth, a core of wild red fruits, and amazing persistence and salinity on the finish.
