A wine that many of the Lay & Wheeler team have followed since its first vintage in 2011, Cartology is something of a microcosm of all that is best about the new wave of South African winemaking. Old vines from throughout the cape, made sensitively and with awareness of South Africa's uniqueness, the 2014 is the best yet. Explosive on the palate with purity of fruit and creamy, spicy notes. Amazingly balanced, textured and incredibly impressive.
