2014 Paul Sauer, Kanonkop, Stellenbosch

2014 Paul Sauer, Kanonkop, Stellenbosch

Paul Sauer is a legendary wine in South Africa: a Bordeaux blend that was first created in 1981, and was named after one of the fathers of South African wine. The 2014 is beautiful: classically styled, it’s all about finesse and elegance. This would not look out of place on the Médoc.

Tasting notes

Paul Sauer is one of the few genuine Cape icons. Blending mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it always seems to absorb its 24 months in new oak with ease. More forward than the straight Kanonkop Cabernet but just as age worthy, this is savoury and focused with leafy freshness.
